it’s all dead now. the stone from a fruit.

no matter how far I may walk out. You always bring me home.

if there is the deep. if the water gets so dark that it seems royal purple.

can’t there also be that white sky?

the pale paint that sucks the day down the mountains and swirls our evenings evenly. like brushes dipped with liquid pastel into a cup of clean water.

i have two small feet.

and I want to stand. stand firmly in place.

yet still I focus on the stones from the fruit and let the rest rot.

i am reading about this idea of wonder. how we should be living in a constant state of wonder. and i think it's one of the best things we can do. there is a lot to distract us from how cool everything around us is. there's battles, and worries, and oil spills, and jobs, but there is so much around us to be continually amazed by. there is clouds, and bikes, songs, and people, color, and animals, trees, and weather. the other night i saw a sky that looked like a volcano full of gold had erupted in space and spilled into the clouds. it was beyond anything i had seen. and i felt overwhelmed. full of joy. it's time to live with eyes that celebrate all the beauty around us.
