realrealreal

"sometimes even sea monsters have horrible days."

i am continually reminded of the fact that no matter what is occurring ever, every second of right where i am is always, and should always be filled with thoughts of thankfulness. there is too much to be glad for, overjoyed about, and thankful for, to be caught up in the sludge of trouble.

suburbs

"carol is late for work"

there's a line in a local natives song, "airplanes," that goes, "i bet when i leave my body for the sky the wait will be worth it." whenever i hear that i always think the wait should be the weight.

"doug didn't mind being a butterfly but, he minds dental plaque"

i am reading this brilliant book, "the ragamuffin gospel," by brennan manning.
i found this quote that is blowing my mind.
"genuine self-acceptance is not derived from the power of positive thinking, mind games, or pop psychology. it is an act of faith in the God of grace."

cake.

"the buffalo couldn't do business with baked goods any longer!"

i woke up just now with morning light in the trees and their leaves.
like hands in hair. and it made me glad to be alive. again.
like every single second. every single day. we have the most
excellent chance to just be right where we are. and feel, and notice
all that's around us. i drove home last night to the tone of moonlight on
water. there is light everywhere. live in that light.

seas and ice and us

"standing there in the sea. the cowboy grew suspicious of the ostrich."

i heard a line in a song last night that said, "i'm not who i used to be." i like that. i like how we change, and shed, and grow. to be free. the band bowerbirds sing a song called "house of diamonds." the chorus says, "you are free. you are already free. you are already free."
